Maintenance Page Generator

While WordPress installs an update, visitors see a grey default message – no logo, no contact, no hint when things resume. A custom maintenance page takes five minutes and sends the correct 503 status so search engines don’t index anything wrong.

Maintenance Page Generator

Custom maintenance page for WordPress

Fill in the details → download the file → upload it as wp-content/maintenance.php. WordPress shows it automatically instead of the default message.

How to use:

  1. Download the file (button above)
  2. Upload via FTP/SFTP as wp-content/maintenance.php
  3. WordPress uses it automatically whenever the .maintenance file exists in the root during a core, plugin or theme update
  4. Test it: briefly create an empty .maintenance file in the root – then delete it again

This file is not a general “coming soon” page – it only shows while WordPress is updating. If the site gets stuck in maintenance mode, delete the .maintenance file in the root directory.
